On Saturday, October 20, the Compass-2018 travel festival will take place in Lviv, during which Ukrainian and Polish travelers will tell stories about unusual, complex and fascinating travels. It is reported by the press service of the Lviv City Council.
"The Planet of the DPRK", a pre-premiere film about North Korea, is a film made by a Ukrainian journalist and TV host Roman Bochkala. He visited North Korea and managed to partially hide the fragments from the life of the most closed countries of the world. What came of it, the visitors of Compass 2018 will see firsthand on October 20. Roman Bochkala will not only bring the film, but also tell the audience how North Korea has opened to him, ”the message says.
A Ukrainian polar Oksana Savenko, who works at the National Antarctic Scientific Center, will also come to the festival. For various reasons, Ukrainian women could not work as part of domestic expeditions to Antarctica for the past 20 years. Oksana - the first who broke the unofficial ban. She is a marine biologist by education, so she traveled to explore the biodiversity of the coldest continent. At Compass 2018, Oksana Savenko will talk about the work and life of researchers in Antarctica.
In addition to North Korea and Antarctica, the speakers of Compass 2018 will talk about trips to Iran and Pakistan, about life in the woods and about exploring Ukraine through hours-long trips in electric trains. The festival starts at 14:00 in the club FESTrepublic.
The main idea of the event is to promote travel as a way of knowing the world as opposed to surface tourism.
