In the footsteps of the princes of Kiev: on Podol where they prayed Princess Olga and the street where he lived a legendary hero

1. The legend of Andrew and dormant sea
One of the most mysterious places on the hem — Andrew's descent. Local rumor has it that there are even temporary portals to parallel worlds, and we are confident that the Bulgakov house still holds a mystical aura. The name, according to ancient legend, the descent due to the Apostle Andrew.

Going down to St. Andrew's to Kontraktova square, you can consider another relic of the princely era — the Church of the assumption pirogoschi (contract, 1). Temple pale pink color is one of the oldest shrines of Kiev. Many are dissatisfied with its external decoration — some consider it a "modest" or "poor." But the history of the Church is much richer than in dozens of luxurious relics of past centuries. After all, it was built in 1132-1136, princes Mstislav and Yaropolk, sons of Vladimir Monomakh.
According to one legend, the name she associated with "prigoda" (a handful — Ed.) the land that this place was laid by Mstislav. However, for centuries it was repeatedly destroyed by the nomads, and from the former furniture nothing remained. In 1613 patrons repaired the temple, and for a long time he was the Central Cathedral of the hem. After a fire in 1811, the Church was rebuilt, and the temple was destroyed in 1935. 3. The temple for the founders of Princess Olga

This temple, like many other relics of the hem, was repeatedly destroyed, and the construction of the present Church on the site of the old wood dates back to the year 1692. Over time the temple has been repeatedly repaired, and in the 1930-ies it was closed by the Bolsheviks and was used as a warehouse for grain. 

4. Vladimir red sun
The princes bound and the Church of the Nativity at the Postal square (now we see only a copy of it, built a few years ago). Although the first written mention of the Church dates from the XVI century, there is a more ancient version of the existence of this Church.

On one of them, the temple was founded during the reign of Prince Vladimir. According to legend, near the column of Magdeburg rights", Vladimir the Red Sun baptized their sons. By the way, now Kiev archaeologists have found near the Church of the ancient street, which dates back to the XI—XII centuries, and it is possible that Prince Vladimir went on hikes and back of them in the capital city. 5. The trail of Prince Igor, heroes and warriors
