The planned launch of a new train from Ukraine to Hungary

The Hungarian side is ready to provide your high-speed train to operate on the route Mukachevo – Budapest, but Ukraine needs to repair the part of the railway on its territory.

This was stated by the Minister of infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan in an interview with UNIAN. In particular, the Minister commented on the prospects of launching the new trains in international service with a focus on European countries. "There is a direction of Mukachevo – Budapest, but already there is a narrow-gauge road (1435 mm track gauge – PZT), you need to repair 300 meters of railroad tracks, and then this train can be run. The Hungarians are even ready to provide your own high-speed train," – said Omeljan.

According to the Chairman of PJSC UZ Adalbert Balchune, negotiations are underway for the launch of railway communication between Budapest and Mukachevo. "I met with the leadership of the Hungarian Railways, as we want to upgrade infrastructure to Mukachevo train headed from Budapest as from Kyiv to Przemysl," said Balcon.

Earlier Vladimir Omelian informed that work is underway on a project for the Union of Transcarpathia with Hungary by the railway track of the European standard.

We will remind that in Ukraine the largest area of combined gauge (1520 mm + 1435 mm (European)) is in the Carpathians at sites Chop – bat'ovo of Mukachevo (40 km electrified) and bat'ovo – Korolevo – Dyakovo (about 80 km).
