"Old Uman", State historical-architectural reserve, has got a new tourist route "the Mysterious caves of the Basilian monastery.
A new highlight of the tourism industry of the city became refectories and corridors, as well as 250-year-old cells of the Basilian monastery. Visitors at the entrance meets a monk, he conducts a tour in the dungeons, along the way, sharing with tourists stories about the life of monks and fathers, Basilian, who served at the monastery. It is the abode was an ancient center of the underground web. 
The monastery was built in 1764 – 1784 In those days he was one of the centers of education of Kyiv, with the school, where they trained 400 students and educated Catholics who were considered loyal subjects of the Polish gentry.
In 1768 in the city the underground passages penetrated Haidamaks, staged a bloody massacre: the Greek-Catholic priests, Polish gentry and Jewish tenants were killed or drowned in wells, and their property fell into the hands of the leaders of the rebellion.
