The sky with the EU will open this year


The Minister of infrastructure of Ukraine Andriy Pivovarsky still hopes to sign the agreement on common aviation area with the European Union in 2015. 

"Sorry, not our fault, we are not able today to sign the agreement on common aviation area with the EU. But I hope that this year we do," said brewer.

He added that the Ministry is working to create the conditions for liberalization of the aviation market, in particular, actively cooperates with the European low-cost airlines to attract passengers in the airports of the country.

As previously reported, in may the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko his decree Brewer authorized to sign the Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union and its member States on common aviation area ("open skies").

June 18, brewer expressed confidence that Ukraine will sign the agreement on "open skies with the European Union before the end of 2015. According to him, negotiations with the European partners, and that they agree with Spain and great Britain to resolve the problem of Gibraltar, and has already established a compromise.

The formal reason, which does not allow Ukraine to sign a contract is the determination of jurisdiction of Gibraltar. The definition of this territory are exaggerated by European and Ukrainian sides since June 2014. In the rest of the agreement was initialed in 2013.

The signing of the Treaty on open skies", is expected to create the Ukrainian air transportation market and will allow European companies to work freely in Ukraine, and Ukrainian – in Europe. The document will guarantee access to the Ukrainian market in the European low-cost companies, as well as the right of the Ukrainian and European companies to make flights between Ukraine and the EU countries without interstate coordination of routes.
